Where Does the Sun Go?

My children’s book took a lot of work and effort but it was worth it,I enjoyed drawing the pictures and coming up with names for the characters. I got the idea for the main character’s name from just a name that I came up with, and I thought was a cute name. I got the idea for my story from my fascination with the sun, and it was cool to write and share that fascination with a character I made. This story was fun to make and I hope you enjoy reading it.

Nile Dweller Journal Entry

Dear Diary,

Last night was awful. All I wanted to do was have a nice meal with my husband and two kids, Seth and Ebony. But the family next door had other plans. We were enjoying our kushari, when Seth and my husband asked for more water. I got up from my chair and began to walk to the Nile. The journey was not very long it was only about 5 miles, but when I got there something was terribly wrong. The Nile’s banks were filled with sand that was slowly falling into the water.

The only water I could see was a tiny sliver towards the bottom of the riverbed. I tried to scoop up the water, but I was interrupted by sand flying into my face. I put my hands to my face and slowly wiped off the grimy sand, I looked over next to me to see the family that lives next to us shoveling a bunch of sand into the Nile. “What are you doing?” I yelled, the family told me that they were shoveling in the sand because they were done living here for the season and they were moving on to a different area in Egypt, so they didn’t need any more water from the Nile. “Well what about my family?, We need water too and if you shovel sand into your area it blocks our water.” This I screamed at the top of my lungs, I was just so mad now my family has no water because of one family’s decision! My family was without water for a few days but thanks to our new government they would be watching out for people like that and making sure everybody was doing their part.

                                                   Sincerely,

Amunet
